Fantastic Holiday Weather Followed by Windy Cold Front Tuesday
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – Sunday was a great weather day for the state of Wyoming and it won’t stop there. Monday will be a great day to spend outdoors before a cold front arrives Tuesday. Few clouds, above average temperatures and breezy winds up to 30mph in some areas will be all the weather to conclude the holiday weekend. Tonight’s low temperatures will range from the 30s to low 40s. Tomorrow’s high temperatures won’t change much from Sunday. The mid 60s out west will warm to the 70s in the eastern part of Wyoming. Tuesday will be a swift weather event as clouds build to the north before sunrise. By sunrise, rain showers, a couple isolated thunderstorms and possibly a mix of rain/snow in the higher elevations will develop along the northern Wyoming border. These rain showers are going to stay primarily in the northeast half of the state as the cold front swoops through Wyoming in the morning and afternoon hours. By early evening Tuesday, almost all the weather will have pushed east with the exception of western Nebraska.
Winds Tuesday will be a concern. Breezy winds will persist from Monday afternoon into Monday evening and Tuesday morning ahead of the cold front. Tuesday afternoon winds will increase further up to 40mph in many locations. Use caution outside especially when opening and closing home and vehicle doors. Winds will decrease into the night Tuesday as the cold front will become more organized after it passes Wyoming into the Great Plains region. Temperatures will take a dive ahead of the front with cloudiness and precipitation. The cold air behind the frontal boundary will fill in after dropping high temperatures 10 to 15 degrees on average from Monday.
Wednesday will also be breezy but nothing like Tuesday. Winds gusting up from 20-30mph are forecasted. Clouds will be minimal and temperatures will stay around their seasonal norms. No significant weather is forecasted for awhile thereafter.
