The 2022 season hasn’t seen the Chicago Bears opening up their passing game.

Despite having Justin Fields as their QB, the passing game has been nearly non-existent.

It’s something they can’t continue to do with David Montgomery out against the Giants.

However, this game against the Giants might give the Bears a chance to open up their passing game.

So what is giving fans hope that the team will give Fields more passing attempts on Sunday?

Fields Might Have Receiver Velus Jones Jr. Back Against The Giants

Bears fans have been waiting to see rookie receiver Velus Jones Jr. get his first NFL start.

However, a hamstring injury during the preseason has kept Jones from playing.

Jones has acknowledged how the injury was a setback, but now feels good as he’s recovering.

But luckily for Fields and the Bears, he could make his first NFL start against the Giants.

Jones came to the Bears and was shockingly good during the team’s mini camps.

With Fields not doing well this season, he needs someone like Jones to help energize the offense.

However, can Fields perform and get more attempts against the Giants’ defense?

Fields Is Facing A Giants Defense That’s Without Key Defensive Players

The good news for Fields going into his games against the Giants is how they are missing several key defensive players.

With cornerbacks Cordale Flott and Nick McCloud out, it could help him in the passing game.

However, with defensive lineman Leonard Williams out as well Fields can use the run game to open up passing lanes.

While Fields won’t have his star running back in David Montgomery, he’s got a great backup in Khalil Herbert.

Herbert took over for Montgomery last week and looked solid in that game.

With Jones’ potential return, Herbert at running back, and the Giants defense missing key players, Fields might get the call to pass the ball more in this game.

However, is he ready after his poor performance against the Texans?

Giants Injuries Gives Fields A Chance To Redeem Himself

Three games into the 2022 season have shown Bears fans a terrible passing offense.

While Fields’ woes have been the highlight of the Bears’ offense, he can redeem himself against the Giants.

His 106-yard and two interception game against the Texans was a low point in his career.

However, this is his chance to exploit a Giants defense that’s battling with injuries.

With the young QB struggling, he needs an easy win in the passing game.

While he’s got the right team to do this against, it’s up to the coaching in Chicago to let him pass the ball.

The Bears brought over Aaron Rodgers former QB coach Luke Getsy, meaning the team should pass more.

However, Getsy isn’t letting Fields be Aaron Rodgers-like on the football field.

He’s making the offense rely on the running game more than the arm of his young QB.

With the stars aligning for Fields, it’s time for Getsy to let him open up the passing offense, no matter what happens.
