Town Council, House 16 candidate forum
JACKSON, Wyo. — Last night, candidates for Jackson’s Town Council and House District 16 gathered at the Teton County Library for its second general election candidate forum.
Candidates were asked just about everything-Jackson.
The forum began with a 30-minute forum with House 16 candidates Jim McCollum and incumbent Mike Yin.
Local media panelists asked McCollum and Yin about abortion restrictions, election integrity, clean energy, a real estate transfer tax, health insurance and marijuana legalization.
The second forum featured Town Council candidates Kat Rueckert, Devon Viehman and incumbents Jonathan Schechter and Arne Jorgensen.
Candidates responded to several questions on housing, from zoning to senior citizens and workforce designations. They also shared their opinions on “hot topics” like the fairgrounds and what some call Jackson’s lost “community character.”
In addition to housing, they were asked about the town’s budget, water quality, equity and western heritage.
