Wyoming History Day 2022 Workshop: Failures and Successes in Diplomacy – Agenda and Syllabus

Date and Time: Friday August 20, 2021 @ 9:00am – 1:00pm MDT

Objectives: The purpose of this workshop is to teach junior and senior high school social studies instructors how-to-incorporate Wyoming History Day into their lesson plans that are compliant with the Wyoming state social studies standards. Wyoming History Day encourages students to encounter, experience, and discovery history. Students who participate in this program gain lifelong critical thinking and analysis skills and can compete for scholarships and other cash awards as well as compete on a national stage at the National History Competition that occurs every June. In 2021, Wyoming History Day provided scholarships to two students who are attending a Wyoming college or university in addition to thousands of dollars in award money for wide array of history projects. This workshop will help teachers develop effective and practical lesson plans to use in their classroom to help students develop Wyoming History Day projects, research skills, critical thinking and analytical skills, and discover an interest in history.
