There hasn’t been much struggle, if any at all for the New York Yankees.

But this past series against the Cincinnati Reds was a tough one for them, as they dropped two out of three to the cellar dwellers in the NL Central division.

One of the key aspects of the series was the dominant performance by Luis Castillo on Thursday night in the series finale.

The right-hander went seven innings and allowed just one run while striking out eight.

With the trade deadline approaching, it’s becoming increasingly likely that Castillo will be dealt, and the Yankees are said to be a potential fit.

Bryan Hoch of MLB.com tweeted about these rumors and said that if Castillo goes to the Yankees, last night’s performance was quite the audition.

Castillo Passes Audition

Last night was quite the audition if Castillo does end up being dealt to the Bronx.

Hoch also mentioned that one thing is clear: the lights in the Bronx are not too bright for the Reds’ ace.

Castillo didn’t factor into the decision, as the game was a back-and-forth affair, but he certainly pitched well enough to win and proved that he can dominate even some of the best lineups in all of baseball.

He also only allowed two hits in his performance last night.

If he does go to New York, it appears he’ll do just fine.

Castillo is 3-4 on the season but has pitched to a 2.77 ERA in 13 starts.

Again, he’s a top trade target and the Yankees are on the list of teams to watch at the trade deadline.

We’ll see if this ends up being a precursor to Castillo’s potential arrival in the Bronx.
