17-year-old charged with murder after 15-year-old girl was shot, killed in Richmond's Northside



RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A 17-year-old Richmond boy has been arrested and charged with murder and using a firearm in connection with the death of a 15-year-old girl in Richmond’s Northside on Wednesday night.

Just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1100 block of North 1st Street for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old girl outside a residence with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

According to Richmond police, the 17-year-old boy, whom the 15-year-old girl reportedly knew, was charged with murder and use of a firearm on Thursday, April 3.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
