17-year-old killed in single-car crash in Rockingham County



ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A 17-year-old boy is dead after the car he was driving ran off the road and crashed in Rockingham County.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred at 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, July 28 on Mayland Road, a tenth of a mile east from Zirkle Lane.

Police said 17-year-old Gadge M. Crawford, of the town of Timberville in Rockingham County, was driving a 2022 Honda Accord on Mayland Road.

The car was speeding when it crossed a double solid yellow centerline, ran off the left side of the road and hit an embankment and fence before it overturned.

Crawford was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. He died at the scene.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
