Hard Rock Las Vegas Starts to Take Shape • This Week in Gambling

The new Hard Rock Las Vegas almost seems like it’s been forgotten. But behind that huge “privacy” fence, construction crews are working diligently to get that new guitar shaped hotel in place. They’ve spent several months clearing the land and digging down to set a new foundation. And now, you can actually start to see how things are going to come together. We actually visited the site on The Strip less than a year ago, and you can find that video embedded below.

The iconic guitar-shaped tower for Hard Rock Las Vegas will rise on the former site of the Mirage’s volcano attraction, while the existing Mirage hotel will undergo a significant renovation. The guitar tower, however, is a brand-new structure being built from the ground up, with a large concrete slab forming its foundation and lower levels. Penta Building Group is leading the construction of the new tower, while McCarthy Building Companies is managing the renovation of the Mirage hotel. The guitar-shaped skyscraper is expected to reach approximately 660 feet in height, with its grand opening slated for 2027.

Hard Rock International, owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, purchased the Mirage in December 2022. This was a historic milestone, as they became the first Native American tribe to own a casino on the Strip . The $1.1 billion purchase to make Hard Rock Las Vegas a reality underscores the tribe’s expanding influence in the gaming and hospitality industry, building upon their successful ventures in Florida . Their Guitar Hotel project aims to redefine the Las Vegas skyline and solidify their presence in the industry.
