Metallica Sphere Residency Has Been Confirmed • This Week in Gambling

Following months of persistent rumors and high levels of fan speculation (and our video from last week which named the most likely next Vegas Sphere residencies), heavy metal legends Metallica have officially confirmed they will perform a limited engagement at the Sphere. The upcoming run of shows, titled Life Burns Faster, is scheduled for October 2026 and marks the first time a major hard rock act will take over the technologically advanced venue.

The Metallica Sphere Residency will consist of eight performances spread across four weekends. Specifically, the band is set to take the stage on October 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, and 31. This schedule continues the No Repeat Weekend tradition that the group established during their recent global touring cycles. Under this format, fans who attend both the Thursday and Saturday performances in a single weekend are guaranteed to hear two completely different set-lists, with no songs repeated between the two nights.

Drummer Lars Ulrich noted that the inspiration for the move came quickly after experiencing the venue as a spectator. He stated that he realized the band needed to perform there within seconds of seeing the opening night of the first residency at the facility in 2023. According to the band, the production will utilize the specific immersive capabilities of the venue, including its high resolution interior LED screen and specialized audio system, to present their catalog in a new dimensions.

Ticketing for the Metallica Sphere residency is structured to accommodate the unique format of the residency. General public sales are scheduled to begin on March 6 at 10 a.m. local time, following a series of pre-sale windows for fan club members and travel package seekers. Options include two night tickets designed for the full weekend experience as well as single night entries.

The announcement comes as the band continues its long running M72 world tour, which has already reached millions of fans across several continents. By transitioning to a residency format for the month of October, the group aims to reinvent their live interaction with the audience through a stationary, high tech environment. Beyond the standard tickets, the Metallica Sphere residency will offer enhanced experiences such as the Snake Pit standing area and travel packages including hotel stays at nearby resort partners.
