HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Hanover NAACP Community Health Fair was held on Saturday with vendors, activities and health resources available for the community.
The Hanover NAACP Community Health Fair was held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Pole Green Park with over 40 vendors and community resources that shared health and wellness information.
Melanie Bowers, Treasurer of the Hanover County branch of the NAACP, said the health fair raised awareness to different vendors and resources available to the community that cover various health issues.
“It’s important for the community because we don’t always know where to find the help and where to find the resources to get help for our health,” Bowers said. “So, we wanted to make it available to allow people to know the different agencies and different areas of the county that they can go to, to get the help that they need.”
Saturday’s event marked the Hanover NAACP Community Health Fair’s first year as Bowers said they plan to make it an annual event.
Some of the vendors at the event included the American Diabetes Association, Mechanicsville AARP, American Red Cross and Bon Secours.
Bowers said the event featured other vendors that sold jewelry, food and healthy body products. Activities such as yoga, double dutch and line dancing were also at the event.
