The Caesars poker room vanished last year in August, players were sort of used to poker disappearing from casinos by that point. However, the room has returned in a different location, and it’s less than spectacular. In fact, what they are calling a poker room has just eight tables… but there are plans for expansion.
The newly re-opened Caesars poker room is located in the Appian Way section of the resort, and there are plans to add another 10 to 15 tables by the end of 2025. That doesn’t mean that there’s any renewed commitment to live poker from Caesars, however.
This expansion was timed strategically to precede the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP), set to run from May 27 to July 16, 2025 at the Horseshoe and Paris. Additionally, Planet Hollywood has also reopened its poker room, offering more options for players during poker’s peak season in Las Vegas.
Other Caesars properties have been closing poker rooms for years, including the one at the Flamingo. In fact, even with the new Caesars poker room there are now fewer than 20 of these establishments still left in Las Vegas. That’s a huge about face from the popularity of the game in the early 2000’s.
In fact, Caesars Entertainment sold the World Series of Poker (WSOP) brand for $500 million in August of 2024 as part of a strategy to reduce company debt. That agreement gave Caesars the rights to host the WSOP for the next 20 years. After that, who knows what will happen to poker in Las Vegas.
