Man wanted for murder after deadly shooting near Petersburg gas station


PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A man is wanted for 1st-degree murder after a deadly shooting near a Petersburg gas station.

The afternoon of Monday, Oct. 6, the Petersburg Bureau of Police announced that it was searching for 42-year-old Prince Moore, Jr. in connection with a Sept. 29 homicide.

At about 5:19 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, officers were called to the 1900 block of E. Washington Street, in the area of a BP gas station, for report of a shooting.

Officers found Tyron R. Clanton, who had been shot. He was taken to local hospital, where he later died.

Moore, pictured below, is now wanted for Clanton’s 1st-degree murder, as well as the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police describe Moore as a Black man with brown eyes and balding brown hair. He is said to be about 5-feet-4-inches tall and weigh about 135 pounds.
