New Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL renders leak

Ahead of Google’s upcoming hardware launch event on August 13, we’ve seen a lot of leaks about the upcoming devices, and today two new renders have been leaked showing the vanilla Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro XL (the true successor in size to the Pixel 8 Pro).

Google’s lineup will get more and less confusing simultaneously come August 13, since it’s expected to launch four new smartphones: the Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The Pixel 9 Pro isn’t the successor to the Pixel 8 Pro, not in size at least, since it’s got the same size as the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9, but with the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s innards. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the successor to the original Pixel Fold from last year, so while this new naming scheme might take a little getting used to, it does make sense once you have fully acquainted yourself with it.

The recently leaked pricing is similarly confusing upon first viewing, and the gist of it is this: some versions will be priced the same as their predecessors, but there will also be price hikes for quite a few variants.

The new renders don’t really show us anything new, the Pixel 9 will have one less camera than the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, as we already knew, and the new devices boast a revamped design for the camera island on the rear.

The cameras themselves have been detailed by a rumor from last week. All of these handsets are expected to be powered by Google’s next-gen Tensor G4 chipset.
