RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Looking for some new tunes? RVA Music Fest will be coming to Richmond’s Dogwood Dell Amphitheater on Saturday, showcasing local independent music artists.
The event will first kick off with Pitch RVA — a pitch competition featuring local businesses — from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The winning business will receive a $500 grant to support its projects, according to organizers.
Following the pitch competition, music performances will span from 2 to 8 p.m. All artists will be performing clean versions of their songs.
Instead of an admission fee, organizers ask that attendees bring school supplies to donate to Richmond Public Schools.
According to organizers, the show is dedicated to the family of Xavier Brown, a 23-year-old Richmond man who was found dead with a gunshot wound in the city’s Shockoe Bottom area in May of 2022.
That month, 8News reported that Brown had made a name for himself in the Richmond area as an up-and-coming chef at several restaurants. He had also launched his own private cooking business, where he catered and delivered homemade meals to the community.
