HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A student at Henrico High School is fighting for his life after he was stabbed during a “serious altercation” that occurred between him and another student on Wednesday.
According to officials, Henrico County Police responded to the school at 12:28 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4 for the report of an altercation between two students.
Police said the School Resource Officer was on scene immediately after the call and found two teen boys. One of the teens was taken to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.
The other teen was taken to a different local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
According to a message shared with families and staff by Henrico County Public Schools, which was posted to Facebook by School Board Member Ryan Young — who represents the Fairfield District — the school was placed on lockdown after the altercation.
School officials and police further said that the altercation is believed to be an isolated incident that doesn’t involve anyone else at the school.
Parents were advised by the school division not to come to the school to pick up their students, as the school was put on lockdown. Henrico County Public Schools added that there is no safety concern on campus.
Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the altercation.
