Two suspects allegedly rob three people in parking garage on Broad Street

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — After two suspects allegedly robbed a group of three people while brandishing guns in a parking deck near Virginia Commonwealth University’s Monroe Park campus, police are asking the public to identify them.

Around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, police said two suspects dressed in dark-colored clothing approached a group of three people near the intersection of Broad Street and Ryland Street asking if they had marijuana to purchase.

When the victims declined, officials said the suspects followed the victims into the parking garage at a private apartment complex in the 1300 block of West Broad Street.

Police said the two suspects, who were then wearing dark-colored masks, brandished guns and demanded belongings from each of the victims.

The victims complied and gave up three cell phones, two wallets and a drawstring bag that contained a handgun. The victims were not injured, according to police.

The suspects allegedly waited on the sidewalk near the scene for nearly 20 minutes before the robbery occurred, then reportedly followed the victims into an alley off Ryland Street as soon as the group arrived.

Police have released the following images of the two suspects to assist the public in identifying them. They’re described as being Black men who appear to be in their 20s.

Both men were seen entering a dark blue Toyota Camry — a model between the years of 2004 and 2006 — which was missing the driver’s side rear hubcap and had a sticker on the top right of the trunk door.

The vehicle left heading east on West Broad Street and was last seen getting on Interstate 95 at East Broad Street and Franklin Street.

Anyone who can identify either or both suspects is asked to call Detective Wiggins at 804-543-4099.
