Virgin River Season 6: Everything We Know So Far

Take a picturesque setting with mountains, add in a cast of attractive characters, and throw them into beautiful romantic situations, and you will have a recipe that viewers love.

With the majority of Virgin River’s seasons being certified fresh, it’s no wonder that fans can’t get enough of this drama!

Based on Robyn Carr’s novel series of the same name, Virgin River was the first of the author’s works to be adapted for TV, followed by the Canadian drama Sullivan’s Crossing.

Fans of the series are likely aware by now, but for good measure, we’re going to go ahead and let you all know that the series has indeed been renewed for season 6!

The show got the green light in May 2023, just before the fifth season’s premiere.

Since its second season, Virgin River has done well in obtaining early renewals, with filming sometimes having already taken place.

Netflix’s own head of scripted dramas told Deadline, “You can rest assured that there will be more Virgin River.”

That’s a hefty dose of hope for fans of the series since it doesn’t look like this beloved show is going anywhere!

What Is Virgin River About?

Virgin River follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote Northern California town of Virgin River.

Though she thinks it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind, Mel soon discovers that small-town living is not quite as simple as she expected.

After the tumultuous cliffhanger ending of Virgin River’s holiday episodes, audiences are likely frothing at the mouth over what important thing Mel’s dad, Everett, had to tell her.

Thanks to a Glamour interview with executive producer and showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, there are a few plot points we can look forward to.

To name just a few, we know that Ava will return, there will be some resolution for Preacher and Kaia, and there will be more insight into Cameron and Muriel’s relationship.

There’s certainly plenty for audiences to look forward to when Virgin River returns for its sixth season!

How Many Episodes Will Virgin River Season 6 Have?

Virgin River is one of the rare shows that has stayed consistent with its episode count despite its long-standing run.

We can confirm that Virgin River Season 6 will have ten episodes, thanks to an interview with series writer Ildiko Susany.

This news may be a bummer for some viewers since both Season 4 and Season 5 had a total of twelve episodes.

However, that means the show will have to condense storylines into a nice compact plot for viewers to enjoy.

It is certainly not uncommon for Netflix shows to receive extra episodes, often in the form of holiday specials!
