RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginians may have spotted a bright light appearing to be an object in the sky on Saturday morning — but what was it?
The morning of Saturday, July 26, SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 5:01 a.m. in Florida, according to Spaceflight Now.
The 28 Starlink satellites were placed into the atmosphere about an hour into the flight, per a social post from SpaceX.
More than 8,000 satellites have been launched this year, and the July 19 launch marked the first time that number has been reached.
