RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department is investigating after a 29-year-old man died, and another man was injured, after a shooting at an apartment complex on Saturday night.
At around 9:54 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, Richmond Police officers were called to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Ruffin Road for the report of a shooting.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a man, identified as 29-year-old Malcolm Coleman, of Richmond, shot, lying down and unresponsive in a parking lot.
According to police, Coleman was transported to a local hospital, where he later died due to his injury. The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Police said detectives were notified at about the same time that another man who was shot was transported by a personal vehicle to a local hospital. According to police, his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
According to police, detectives determined that the man was injured during the same shooting incident at the Ruffin Road apartment complex.
Police said there were reports of many people present at the location of the shootings. Investigators are asking for people with knowledge of the circumstances of the incidents to provide information to detectives.
