HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A new solar panel system has been installed on the roof of the Fairfield Area Library in Henrico County.
The 268-kilowatt system is projected to produce about 75% of the library’s electricity, according to a county spokesperson.
The system was developed in partnership with Sun Tribe Solar, which will operate and maintain the system and sell the solar electricity back to the county at a reduced rate compared to grid electricity.
The spokesperson said that over the next 25 years, the system is estimated to save taxpayers nearly $267,000.
