In a post on X, Massachusetts State Police said that state and local police responded to UMass Lowell after a video surfaced showing a person allegedly carrying a rifle walking near the Riverview Suites student dorm on Middlesex Street. They also urged all the people that if anyone has information about the man, they should call 911. The Lowell police notified the community of beefed-up police activity on Middlesex, Pawtucket, and Broadway Streets at around 4 p.m., according to MassLive. The people were asked to avoid the area.
